My personal profile

I was born in Brussels on 10 June 1958. I graduated in chemistry (PhD in sciences) and I always tried to combine my two passions (for science and communication, and writing in particular), whcih has not been always easy! Some key points:

  • I ran in parallel my research and journalist activities during about 10 years
  • I currently work for the European Commission, which I consider as a chance or more exactly as an extraordinary opportunity given the interesting work observatory-like position this organisation provides. I am among other things editor in chief of the magazine RTD info on European research. The subscription is free!
  • I have also coordinated the big Eurobarometer public opinion surveys on science and technologie.
  • I published several books in which I develop my personal opinions on various aspects of science and technologie today
  • I have also some other hobbies !

  • Some texts on my career path:
  • The page published on the website of the Science magazine
  • The article published by the Association Bernard Gregory (in French)

    My hobbies

  • Badminton, which is a challenging sport (I am also the president of a club: the BC Daring)
  • Cinema
  • Gastronomy
  • ... Reading and writing bien sūr
